VolMUN IX

Welcome to

February 23rd - 25th, 2024

Letter from the

Secretary-General

Dear delegates,

My name is Bryce Luttrell, and I have the honor of serving as your Secretary-General for VolMUN IX. I began my VolMUN career as a delegate to the UNODC seven years ago and was hooked immediately. After spending three years competing as a high school student, I enrolled at the University of Tennessee and slowly advanced from Co-Chair, to Chair, to Under-Secretary-General, and finally to the distinguished office I hold today.

This iteration of VolMUN comes with a unique set of challenges. For the first time in the conference’s history, we are hosting an equal number of crisis and general assembly committees. This decision was made with the aim of providing you with an exceptional conference experience unparalleled by any other Model UN program in the Southeast. Due to their intensive nature, crisis committees are generally reserved for college conferences, but I have every confidence that this versatile group of high school delegates will rise to the challenge.

Throughout the past seven years, I have witnessed this conference evolve and grow into a community based on collaboration, creativity, friendship, and, of course, spirited debate. The hard work and dedication exhibited by VolMUN delegates, staff, and advisors is truly spectacular to witness. I consider myself lucky to be part of such a wonderful group.

With your help, I am confident that we will continue VolMUN’s legacy of ingenuity, authenticity, and goodwill cultivated over the past eight years. Thank you for your interest in VolMUN IX, and I hope to see you in Knoxville this February! If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please do not hesitate to send me an email at secgen.volmun@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Bryce Luttrell

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We would prefer a single check encompassing the student and delegation fees be brought to the conference, but we are more than happy to work with your delegation if an alternative payment method would be easier for you. More information regarding fees can be found under the registration tab.

  • No! We are happy to accept individual delegates. You will be responsible for your own transportation and lodging, and you will need a parent/guardian to act as an advisor and attend all three days of the conference with you. Delegates attending without a school are not required to pay the delegation fee. Email secgen.volmun@gmail.com for details.

  • All VolMUN delegations receive a discounted block rate from the Graduate Knoxville, a hotel just a few blocks away from the conference site. If you are interested, email secgen.volmun@gmail.com, and I will reply with the group booking link.
